Neighbors United: an anti-ice community preparedness event

February 28, 2026

1pm - 4pm

Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center

Neighbors United brought together community members, advocates, and local organizations for an afternoon centered on preparedness, solidarity, and collective care. This event created a welcoming space where attendees could access resources, build connections, and strengthen community resilience.

Throughout the gathering, participants connected with organizations offering mutual aid, healthcare, mental health services, and worker support. The event provided opportunities to learn about local resources, build relationships with community partners, and discover ways to become more involved in ongoing organizing efforts.

Attendees also participated in an inclusive, trauma-informed self-defense workshop led by RAW Power. Grounded in accessibility and empowerment, the workshop offered practical skills while honoring the diverse experiences and needs of those present.

At its core, Neighbors United reflected LA Queer Coalition's belief that community safety is built collectively. By bringing people and organizations together in one shared space, the event reinforced that preparedness, mutual support, and meaningful connection are essential to creating safer, more resilient communities.
